Plastic Playing Cards

A hundred percent plastic deck is a different object from a paper one. It cannot absorb a spilled drink, it cannot soften at the corners, and it can be wiped down and put straight back into play. Card rooms that deal every night buy them for exactly that reason.

They also cost several times what paper costs, and the print sits on a plastic surface rather than in a paper one, so a very fine matte design will look slightly different from the paper proof. We would rather say that up front than have it noticed after delivery.

There is no core question here: plastic is opaque all the way through, so nothing reads through the card. The handling is different too — plastic is slicker and heavier, which some players love and some never get used to.
