About

Most custom decks are marked. Nobody meant them to be.

Get Custom Playing Cards makes decks to order — poker and bridge sizes on black-core stock, plastic decks, fully custom fifty-four-face decks, printed tuck boxes and promotional runs.

Custom printed playing cards with logo

A playing card is a very small piece of print with an unusual requirement: fifty-four of them have to be indistinguishable from the back. Break that and the deck stops being a deck.

It gets broken constantly. Somebody sends a logo, the logo has a top and a bottom, and now every card in the pack announces which way round it is being held. Or the border is thin and the cutter drifts a millimetre, so half the run has a white sliver on one edge and the other half does not. Either way you have printed a marked deck and paid for the privilege.

So the first thing we do with any back artwork is test it upside down. If it fails, we rebuild it into a two-way symmetric pattern around your mark and show you both versions.

Why we exist

Decks get ordered as merchandise, from printers who treat them as small rectangles of card, and quoted on colour and quantity alone.

So the back is orientable. The stock has no core and the faces show through under a lamp. The finish is a smooth varnish that photographs beautifully and welds the deck into a brick after an hour in a warm room. All three are invisible on the proof and obvious at the table.

The back has to work upside down

Rotate your back artwork a hundred and eighty degrees and put the two side by side. If you can tell them apart, so can everyone at the table.

The fix is almost never to drop the branding. It is to build a repeating or rotationally symmetric pattern that carries the mark, and to pull the border in far enough that the real cutting tolerance — about a millimetre, in both directions — can never leave a white edge on one side only. We set that safe area for you before anything is printed.

The black core is what makes a card opaque

Proper playing-card stock is three plies: printed face, printed back, and a black layer glued between them. That black layer is the whole reason a card held in front of a lamp shows nothing at all.

Two-ply promotional stock has no core. It is genuinely fine for a giveaway and useless for a game anybody cares about, and the only wrong thing is not being told which one you are buying. We put it on the quote either way.

The finish is embossing, not gloss

Air-cushion and linen finishes are physical patterns pressed into the card. They hold a thin layer of air between the faces so the cards slide apart instead of clinging.

That is what lets a deck fan into a clean arc and riffle without bridging. A smooth varnished deck feels lovely for ten minutes and then behaves like a single block of card, which is the single most common complaint about cheap custom decks.

What we actually make

Poker and bridge decks on three-ply black-core stock with an embossed finish. Fully plastic PVC decks that wash clean and outlast paper many times over. Decks where all fifty-four faces are different, at no setup charge. Printed tuck boxes, slipcases and rigid boxes with cellophane wrap. And lighter promotional decks, sold as exactly that.

How we price

No dollar figures on this site. Price moves with size, stock, finish, packaging and quantity, and it falls steeply into the thousands. Send the details and a real quote comes back the same day, with a lowest-price guarantee if you are already holding a cheaper one.

What we will talk you out of

Casino stock for a trade show giveaway. A logo-as-back that only works one way up. Foil on the cards when it belongs on the box. Plastic decks for an event that runs one night.

Every one of those costs us money to say and saves you more.
